Pacific Association of Supreme Audit Institutions

Public Auditing Expert - Subregional Audit Support Program

The Pacific Association of Supreme Audit Institutions (PASAI) is the official association of government Audit Offices in the Pacific region. It has more than 20 member institutions (known as SAIs), and operates throughout the Pacific with a Secretariat based in Auckland, New Zealand.

PASAI has adopted a Sub-regional Audit Support (SAS) Program to assist the audit offices in Kiribati, Nauru, and Tuvalu in producing audited public accounts to uniformly high standards in a timely manner. The program has a significant emphasis on the development and understanding of public auditing methodology, and on capacity building in the three SAIs. The first cycle of reports under the Program is currently being completed, and PASAI is now recruiting a Public Auditing Expert to assist in the second and third cycles.

We are seeking an innovative, experienced auditor to join PASAI’s SAS team. Reporting to the SAS Program Coordinator, the Public Auditing Expert will have recent, practical, public auditing experience in a supervisory role, and hold a recognized professional auditing qualification. Public auditing experience in the Pacific region is highly desirable.

This will be a fixed term position, which will require extensive amounts of time to be spent on-site in Kiribati, Nauru and Tuvalu and at other Pacific region sites, and occasionally at the PASAI Secretariat in Auckland, New Zealand.

This is an exciting opportunity for an innovative and enthusiastic auditor who wishes to work in a small supportive team to promote public sector development and change.

Applicants need to have at least 5 years experience working in an SAI in the Pacific or similar location, preferably in a Level 4 or 5 (Senior Auditor/Audit Supervisor, Audit Manager) position. A 4-year degree is required and professional certification (CA, CPA, CISA, CFE, CIA) is preferred.

The position will be filled through a consultancy agreement negotiated between PASAI and the successful candidate. A secondment arrangement would be considered in the case of an applicant who is currently employed by an SAI.
