PASAI gathers SAI leaders in Samoa to help them plan for impact

Apia, Samoa: The Pacific Association of Supreme Audit Institutions (PASAI) is helping Pacific Island government audit offices to prepare annual operational plans focused on completing high-quality audits that make a difference with an in-person workshop in Samoa this week.

Twenty-one senior staff (10 female, 11 male) from supreme audit institutions (SAIs) in American Samoa, Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu are participating in the 5-day workshop from 15 to 19 June 2026, facilitated by PASAI Chief Executive, Esther Lameko-Poutoa, and Program Director, Sinaroseta Palamo-Iosefo.

SAI leaders and management staff who have responsibilities for developing strategic and operational plans, and monitoring and reporting on the results of implementing these plans are in attendance.

Ms Palamo-Iosefo explained, “Strong governance and robust operational plans are fundamental to SAIs identifying and delivering work that matters to their stakeholders.”

The workshop is designed to support SAIs to prepare annual operational plans with clearly defined activities, timetables, responsibilities and coverage of audit activities to achieve their strategic priorities.

“We are committed to supporting our member SAIs to prepare, manage and deliver work programs that provide transparency and accountability, and enhance public sector financial management and performance,” Ms Palamo-Iosefo said.

SAIs participating in the strategic management program will have implemented their operational plans by June 2027.

PASAI acknowledges the support of the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) and the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).
